Is it safe to cook stewing beef at 250 degrees F.? I always heard that 325 was hot enough to kill food bacteria and nothing lower. However, my friend gave me a recipe for her favourite stew and the temp. is only 250 degrees. Once again, is this a safe temp???
Yesdm it is safe, as long as the foods are not all cold to start, and the stove is thoroughly preheated (20 minutes or more). For example, brown your meat and onions on top of the stove before you put it in the
