Ellen, I love your site and plan on using it a lot for my son's graduation party next year. To Help out with expenses, I was planning on buying a lot of the non-perishables throughout the year. We will be having barbequed pork loins that I will dry rub the night before, bbq meatballs, buffalo wings, potato salad and coleslaw, baked beans(canned), chips, veggie and fruit trays, cake and some eclairs and cream puffs(frozen from a warehouse store), nuts and mints, coffee, tea, alcoholic and non-alcoholic frozen drinks along with beer and sodas. How far ahead can some of these things be purchased? Thank you for such a great site. Vicki |

of course, all the paper goods and plastics will go on end of summer super sale at the drug and dime stores in about August. The rest depends to a large extent on the amount of freezer space you have. Canned beans will hold a year. Frozen desserts 1-3 months- they have a best used by date that is pretty reliable. Solid frozen meats up to 6 months, meatballs and wings about a month. Unopened hard liquor, practically forever. The potato salad, slaw, veggie and fruit trays are time of, though you can watch for ranch dressing sales and stock that on sale. Chips, the fresher the better. Beer and soda, nuts and mints, about a month at normal room or basement temp- not hot garage temp. |
