Robert, I hear your hopes, but have to ask some hard questions. Do you have previous food experience, market contacts, liability insurance, a business plan and a kitchen with health department approval? If not, you can be shut down in a minute. The failure rate on food businesses is over 50% at one year and most that survive go two full years before going into and ataying in the black. Running a small restaurant is the only work I have ever done that was harder than nursing.

Accounting for home based business'
My husband is wanting to start up home based business websites,(three), my problem is I cannot find a bookkeeping system for this.
The Quicken and Quick books are good but not for homebased business. As we will not have a payroll and no employees his check will be coming to him. Where can I find someone who can tell me what accounting I need for income tax purposes. Also what I can deduct and what I can not deduct. I need to know how to set something up. I have no idea on this. My computer skill are up to date with Microsoft programs of word, excel, powerpoint, but I never took an accounting classes. At the moment I am looking at a blank page on Excel.

AStart at the SCORE (Service core of Retired Executives) of the Small Business Administration. They also have free workshops on small business and self employed accounting. Do not back down- you can end up in astonishing trouble with poor choices or bad advice- like my friends who paid over $100,000after an IRS audit...
