| JoAnne 07/31/06 | I am planning a Girl Scout campfire "cookoff," where the girls can show off their outdoor cooking skills. I was thinking they could serve sample size portions to the guests, who would try all the different dishes, and vote for the best. I know the sample size will depend on how many different groups are cooking, but can you offer a recommendation? I don't want each troop to have to cook 6 gallons of food, but I do want the tasters to get full. We would have categories like entrees, sides, desserts, and breads.
Thanks, |

By the way, 6 gallons is about 50 pounds for most foods. If they are selling their own tickets, you will have a head count. Are the cooks going to try each others? You then have to count them, too. You might consider adding/supplying plenty of the cajun garlic bread on my "meatballs for 25" page, to fill in the cracks. |
