Help! I am throwing a birthday party for my two-year-old from 11am-1pm and wanting to serve lunch. Any great ideas? I'm expecting about 40 adults and 20 kids. The only thing I knew for sure I wanted to try was to use a cookie cutter in the shape of an “H” (her name begins with "H")to cut out little tea sandwiches. At first I thought the 4” cookie cutter size would be best, but with the shape of the “H” do you think they would turn out too floppy to eat? Should I do mini sandwiches in 2” or 3”? Any ideas on sandwich flavors? PBJ, pimento.....anything else? Thanks for all of your great input!!
Thanks for your help!

Elizabeth, hi, How about H shaped cookies? That is an awkward shape for sandwiches- maybe you could pipe little "H's " in cream cheese on the top of squares, triangles and fingers. A pasta salad with three color rotini is a popular choice, or mac and cheese is a big winner. A fruit platter with a caramel dip is pretty and popular. A mild dip with chips would be a good possibility. Sliced plain turkey, ham and mild cheddar are good sandwich choices with this age. Deviled eggs will disappear. |
