How to keep mashed potatoes warm for party bar?

I'm planning on having a Mashed Potato Martini Bar for our christmas party this year. What would be the best way to keep the potatoes warm without burning them?
Chafing pan - but wouldn't the edges/bottom burn?
Crock pot - doesn't look that great
Roaster over - looks worse
How about the time inbetween when they are prepared and put on the table? keep in a warm oven at 200?
Ahhh! Please help!
thanks!

First the easy one. Use the freezable holdable mashed potato recipe, it helps them stay goo while warming. Heat tightly covered in the oven at about 325, turn to 200 when the center temp reaches 180.

Use chafing dishes, several heating spots under instead of one high one.

For a most attractive display, make 1/5 mashed red garnet yams, to complement the white potatoes. Put out chopped praline pecans as a topper. MMMMMMMM.

Wow! You are the bomb! and my new favorite site! Thank you so much.

Can I do the same method with the red garnet yams?

Also, I'd like to make beef tips in a burgundy sauce any thoughts on a good recipe (to use top the potatoes)and prep and holding. We'll have about 30-40 people in attendance.

thanks again!

Yes to the yams. I add some pumpkin pie spice or a tiny pinch of garam masala (non hot curry flavor).

Use a tried and true recipe for the stew. Buy whole chuck and cut it up yourself, or top sirloin; pre-packaged beef tips can be very variable in taste and tenderness. Use a really drinkable wine.
