My church has asked me to cook for the senior citizens dinner. Will be an evening meal for about 50 and they would like soup??? Any ideas on a menu???? |

Yes. For only one choice, a meaty/beefy or chickeny stewy vegetable soup, mild onion, no garlic, mild tomato, no whole corn, not too much salt. 4 gallons would be plenty. Noodle, barley or rice as the starch. 10 quarts each of a creamy and a stewy will also be a nice choice. Really good cornbread, about 4-5 9x13 pans, with honey, butter and jam, plus 6-8 loaves of fruity quick breads. Instead of green salad, a fruit tray- many older folks who live alone don't buy a lot of fruit, but they do like it. For dessert, bars and pies instead of cookies. Omit nuts- they don't agree with everyone's digestion. |

9 regular packs of jello plus add-ins to do jello salad. 2 #10 cans halves or you can get by with 1 #10 can slices/pieces pears. Look here for soup recipes for 50: www.ellenskitchen.com/bigpots/beefsoup.html www.ellenskitchen.com/bigpots/soups/gumbo.html |
