Joan, if you have ENOUGH appetizer type food, you don't need to worry. But I need to know the time of day, length of the party, and the age and make up of the crowd to help you with estimates; college age men and women eat way more than 30-something ladies, for example.

Some people will not have eaten dinner. You need about 6 "bites" for the first hour and about 4 bites each additional hour for the number of guests that will stay. 1/4 cup dip plus the chip or bread is one bite. There is more information on servings on the appetizer planning page.

I would add one or two square type items such as the spinach Parmesan squares on this site. I would also add a relish tray or artichoke-olive condite- something vegetable-y but nut raw.

You need to allow 3 ounces of shrimp meat, and 2-3 ounces of crabmeat per person PLUS about 3 ounces each of the ham and the meatballs.

See the dessert bar article for lots of tips about buffet desserts.

If you want to post the shopping list you come up with, I will review it for you.
