Grad Open House

We are having an Open House for anywhere from 75 to 100 people. (How do you know for sure when it's an "Open House?") We are serving meat and cheese trays, polish sausage, chicken wings, meatballs, pasta salad, macaroni salad, taco salad, baked beans, cheesy potatoes, cake and other various desserts. How much do I plan on for each item? How many loaves of bread would we need also. What about beverages - coffee, pop, beer? How much of those? This is our first so any help would be appreciated!!

Nancy, you plan for 75-100 by including several items that can be held unopened.

Is this a high school or college situation? College and hs students eat WAY more than older adults. What time of day and for how long?

Also, I would rework the menu a little, this is an expensive menu with a lot of stuff that won't keep. Are changes an option? Also, what is the kitchen situation as far as ovens, refrigerator and freezer space?

You can plan your beverages from the beverage planning page.

Write back.

It is an open house for high school graduation. The menu could change a little - however I have relatives who are making many of the dishes already. It is for a Sat. night from 4-9. I have one oven and refrigerator/freezer. I planned on using a large electric roaster for the polish sausage and I have heated pans for the wings and cheesy potatoes. The beans are going in crock pots. The cold items will be on ice. If I stick with this menu - do I plan on 1/4 lb. of each kind of meat per person? For salads - 1/4 cup each salad? Thanks for your help!

Yes, you are doing fine with these amounts, and if you have help on the items you should be OK.

Allow 10-12 pounds of bread for 100 people. There is a condimaent table for 100 for sandwiches on the sandwich event page. A big bowl of egg salad would be good for the vegetarians, and with this age group and size group you will have some.

Two electric roasters would be the righ amount of cheesy potatoes.
