Hi. I am in the process of collecting all the ingredients I will need for the unchuck roast but I'm stymied at soy flakes. I've never seen them at my local stores and internet searches are turning up industrial use articles but no mail order sources. Can you tell me where you get yours or which brand you use? I found a source for tvp flakes but I think I would like to try to find the soybean flakes since I understand they still have the fat included. I have regular tsp in my house but I am assuming you specified flakes for a reason. And since I'm already here, I would like to ask if you thought tahini would be an acceptable substitute for the sesame paste or if it is too gloppy. Thanks again! |

Yes, tahini is fine, sesame butter made from the whole seeds has more calcium (tahini is usually made from hulled seeds) but the taste effect is equal. You can use tvp flakes, they work fine, since you have the tahini you will have enough fat. This is a very forgiving recipe. You can use soy grits, also. |
