Can anyone tell me how to cook brown rice in a crock pot? Do I use the high or low setting? How much time for each setting? The instructions on the bag says 1 cup of rice to 2 cups of water (on the stove top). Does this apply to the crock pot as well? Thank you! Kristine |

Whether you use a regular pot, the oven or a crock pot, the secret to tender brown rice is to bring it to a boil and boil (about 6 minutes) before you cover, turn down the heat and simmer/ steam/bake. Use the indicated amount of water, boil, then transfer to the crock, which is already cooking, or which you have pre-warmed with hot tap watwer. Cook about 3 hours on high, this depends on the rice. The good thing about brown rice in the crock pot is, it doesn't get mushy easily, as white rice tends to. |
