I'm trying to learn OAMC. How does one go about taking advantage of weekly sales on meats and still cook once a month? Would you freeze the meats and vegies and then thaw it in time for the day of cooking and then re-freeze it after it's cooked? |

Some once a month cooks do mini sessions; instead of doing everything in one big blast, they do a month of just the chicken, beef or whatever is on sale. Freezing and refreezing reduces the quality of the meat; if you want to shop weekly, better to cook weekly. |

A great way we save is buying a whole steer and split it with a friend. We get better quality organic meat and specify how it's processed. A little under $2.80# when it's all done which may seem high for ground beef - but it's really good ground beef - it seems pretty cheap when you cook up those wonderful steaks and roasts. |
