keeping food hot

I always seem to have trouble getting food to the table nice and hot after dishing up.
I usually serve about twelve people and do not have enough space in my oven to store the plates of food.

As I love to serve food hot I would like to have any ideas on how to acomplish this.

Preheat the plates or bowls before you serve them, either in the oven or dishwasher. This alone will make a big difference.

Foil pans will not keep the food hot. If you want to keep food SAFELY hot (above 140 until served) it has to be in an oven, roaster, crockpot etc; or else moved to a Cambro (preheated caterers storage box) or a preheated ice chest (the tougher kind you can sit on, not the styrofoam ones) afetr it is heated above 160. It will hold for a couple of hours if you do NOT open the lids. See the baked poato bar page for further discussion of holding potatoes hot.
