I am planning a fish fry for approx. 300 people to be served buffet style. Having fish (2 kinds), chicken fingers, popcorn shrimp, potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans and hush puppies. How much food of each item do you think I need? I would hate to run low on food but also would hate to "overbuy" my food. Thanks for your help as event is coming up soon !!!! |

This will partly depend on if people are paying by the plate or if it is all you can eat. If it is all you can eat, they will inhale the shrimp, unless you put a server there to moderate the intake. You need 1 good size piece of fish (4 ounces) PLUS 3-4 ounces of shrimp per person, then add about 2 ounces per person of chicken fingers. About 4 gallons of potato salad (start with 35 pounds poatoes), 3 gallons of beans and 2 1/2-3 gallons of slaw (start with 20 pounds of cabbage)PER 100 people. About 3-4 hush puppies each. |
