hot dog fund raiser

The Girl Scouts are doing a fund raiser at an event where only hot dogs are being sold. They are selling a combo of a hot dog, a bag of chips, a drink and a cookie.

How many pounds of chopped onions do we need for 750 hot dogs? I checked the sandwich fixins for 100 table and it said 7 lb of onions per 100 people. So if I estimate each person eats two hot dogs, that'd be 24 lb of chopped onions? That seems like a whole lot of onions. I wasn't sure if it would be less since it is just hot dogs. Do the ketchup, mustard, relish and sauerkraut amounts also remain the same as in the table?

Thanks!
Michal

The easiest way for you to have an onion estimate you like, is to go look at the weight and size of the little bag of chopped onions in the freezer case, decide how many hotdogs you would use for that, and then multiply the weights, allowing about 10% for cutting/skin loss.

The rest of the numbers will probably be close. You may have some left over, but are not likely to run out.

A really good money-raising addition would be whole dill pickles at $1 each.

If you are planning to buy the kraut, you could consider offering the Lexington slaw on my cole slaw tips page instead. You can make this, and it is good. You would need about 1/2 the recipe for 500. See the new pages page for the link.
