Sweet 16

Hi Ellen!

I am planning a Sweet 16 for my daughter. We will have approximately 130 guests, including 10 children under 10 years old. I am having a hard time figuring out how much raw materials I need to buy as well as how many trays it will make. Our menu is based on my daughter's favorites. Here it is:

Mac & Cheese
Chicken Fingers (buying frozen & heating)
Penne a la Vodka
Meatballs
Nacho Bar (nacho chips, taco meat, cheese & assorted veggies)
2ft Hero Sandwich

My question to you is, how much meat & pasta should I purchase? Also, How many chaffing pans will I need?

Thanks so much for your help!!

Hi, Tracey,

Mac & Cheese
Penne a la Vodka
For these you want a total of about 14 pounds dry pasta. How you divide depends on your estimate of the tastes of the crowd.

Chicken Fingers (buying frozen & heating) at least 1 pound per 5
Dips, 1/4 cup per person. Usually Ranch and Marinara or honey bbq
Meatballs, about 15 pounds; 3 quarts sauce per 10 pounds

Nacho Bar (nacho chips, taco meat, cheese & assorted veggies)
Use the taco bar page for toppings, including meat, and allow 1 pound chips for each 10; a little more if mostly teens

Suggest you add 8 pounds chopped lettuce to allow for taco salads

2ft Hero Sandwich- feeds about 10

You can write back. If this saves you time, trouble or money, please make a donation to support the site, maybe a dime per guest. Thanks.
