Does anyone know if there are any safe covers for theses types of range tops. I have a ceramic glass top as part of an eating island and for safety reasons I was wondering if there was perhaps a ceramic cover to put over since it takes so long to cool down. Thanks

There are silicon mats that tolerate up to 600 degrees, expensive but durable and safe. I have never seen a ceramic cover. Sometime back a friend made a cover of wood with a rim to elevate it off the elements, lined with the aluminum asbestos heat sheets you used to be able to get for countertops, aluminum side down toward the burner, but I haven't seen the pads in a while.
