I hate my ceramic cook top

Is it possible to replace the ceramic cooktop (which I hate, did I mention that?) on my GE stove with coil burners? Now is the time, it has developed a big crack. It also has just one large burner out of four. Clearly this range was not designed for someone who likes to cook. (My husband is tired of hearing me swear at my range.)

It would be less costly to replace the whole range. Many stores, Sears, etc. are having fine sales now.
